Qatar Airways is excited to announce a partnership with Malaysian celebrity chef icon, Chef Wan, to introduce an indulgent menu of delicious, locally-inspired meals to passengers in conjunction with the airline’s 25th anniversary in 2022. The airline also recently celebrated its 20th anniversary of operating the Kuala Lumpur – Doha service in December 2021. This timely partnership is also in celebration of the recent Malaysia’s border reopening last week.
Datuk Redzuawan Ismail, affectionately known as Chef Wan, will design and develop the commemorative menus with Qatar Airways catering team. The menus will pay homage to traditional Malaysian cuisine, with the business class menu featuring recipes from the Malaysian royal heritage.
“This partnership with Qatar Airways is very exciting, because not only am I working with the World’s Best Airline, it also gives me the opportunity to create and promote the diversity of Malaysian cuisine on a global platform. I hope to make Malaysia proud though my special Qatar Airways menu, and showcase the Malaysian food culture I hold so dear to my heart to international travelers,” said Chef Wan.
“Chef Wan needs no introduction as he’s Malaysia’s culinary pride and joy. Qatar Airways is thrilled by this partnership to mark the key milestones of our 25th anniversary this year, and also 20 years of flying between Malaysia and Qatar. Qatar Airways passengers can look forward to a Malaysian culinary adventure by the best Malaysian chef onboard the world’s best airline,” said Mr Jared Lee, Qatar Airways Vice President of Sales for Southeast Asia, Southwest Pacific & Indian Subcontinent.
Scheduled to roll out mid-2022, the Chef Wan-Qatar Airways bespoke menu will be available onboard the Kuala Lumpur-Doha route in both economy and business class for a one-year period.
Qatar Airways has been one of the few airlines that has remained in operations since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020. Throughout this time, Qatar Airways has safely flown over 132,000 passengers in and out of Malaysia since March 2020. The airline currently operates 14 flights weekly with twice-daily services between Kuala Lumpur and Doha.
As travel restrictions ease, the national carrier of the State of Qatar continues to rebuild its network, which currently stands at over 140 destinations. With more frequencies being added to key hubs, Qatar Airways offers unrivalled connectivity to passengers, making it easy for them to change their travel dates or destination if they need to.
A multiple award-winning airline, Qatar Airways was recently announced as the ‘Airline of the Year’ at the 2021 World Airline Awards, managed by the international air transport rating organisation, Skytrax. It was also named ‘World’s Best Business Class’, ‘World’s Best Business Class Airline Lounge’, ‘World’s Best Business Class Airline Seat’, ‘World’s Best Business Class Onboard Catering’ and ‘Best Airline in the Middle East’. The airline continues to stand alone at the top of the industry having won the main prize for an unprecedented sixth time (2011, 2012, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2021).
Qatar Airways has also become the first global airline in the world to achieve the prestigious 5-Star COVID-19 Airline Safety Rating by Skytrax. This follows the success of Hamad International Airport (HIA) as the first airport in the Middle East and Asia to be awarded a Skytrax 5-Star COVID-19 Airport Safety Rating. These awards provide assurance to passengers across the world that the airline’s health and safety measures are subject to the highest possible standards of professional, independent scrutiny and assessment.
