Lyia Meta’s journey has been both humbling and rewarding, marked by significant milestones such as being listed twice as a contestant for the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition in 2022 and 2023. She also received a nomination in the Jazz category at the 2021 Hollywood Music in Media Awards recognition at the International Portuguese Music Awards, and multiple wins at the Texas Sounds International Country Music Awards in both 2021 and 2022. “I’m greatly inspired by rock and blues. Over the years, I’ve also delved into pop, pop rock, jazz, country, traditional R&B, Neo-Soul, Soul, Motown, Jazz Pop, Orchestral Pop, traditional country, country blues, country pop, gothic rock and rock with metal influences,” says the talented singer. “I’ve also had the privilege of collaborating by lending my voice on albums in world music, contemporary instrumental, contemporary blues and more.”

“I pursued my studies in interior design, and alongside my music career, I’ve showcased my contemporary art in solo exhibitions and participated in group shows,” says Lyia. “The courage and determination it takes to leave behind stability and pursue a passion for visual art shaped my perspective on life, inspiring me to think beyond conventional boundaries and embrace my own artistic journey.”

“A pivotal moment in my career as an independent artist came when I met my collaborator, Los Angeles-based songwriter Denise Dimin. Our collaboration on three albums, 15013, ALWAYS YOU and NEXT was transformative, opening the door to new creative possibilities and musical exploration,” she says excitedly. “Through working with Denise, I had the incredible fortune of meeting my producer, Bob McGilpin, whose expertise and vision helped shape the next phase of my artistic journey. Bob produced four of my albums, three in collaboration with Denise, and one called YOU THINK ABOUT ME where both Bob and I co-produced together.”

Lyia stays inspired and motivated by continuously seeking out opportunities to learn, grow and push boundaries. “I thrive on meeting people, exchanging ideas and discovering fresh perspectives that challenge my creativity. My curiosity keeps me moving forward, and I’m always looking for ways to refine my craft and explore new avenues of self-expression. Between my visual art, writing, live performances and recording new music, I am constantly evolving. Every project fuels my passion and drives me to keep creating, no matter the obstacles,” says Lyia.

“I don’t believe in shortcuts as hard work and authenticity are key. Respect for the craft, whether in collaboration or solo work, always leads to the best results,” she says. I value mutual respect, trust and open communication in every collaboration,” says Lyia. “I define success by how much I’ve grown, how much I’ve learned, and how much joy I’ve found in the process. It’s about staying motivated, embracing challenges, and maintaining a sense of balance in my personal and professional life,” she says. “I adjust and adapt my plans along the way to ensure they come to life.”

Lyia’s advice to those who are starting out in her field is to stay true to themselves and their vision. “It’s easy to get distracted by external pressures, but the key is to focus on what sets you apart. Don’t rush the process but embrace the challenges and learn from them. Each step you take, no matter how small, brings you closer to your goals. Be persistent but also patient with yourself. Surround yourself with people who believe in you, but ultimately, trust your own instincts and decisions. Hard work, authenticity and resilience will always be your best companions on this journey.”
