The building of hotels and homes in Malaysia has taken a turn from tediousness towards an outburst of innovative ideas incorporating current eco-style trends. Top10 of Malaysia speaks to Peter Chan, the visionary builder who has put Malaysia on the global map when he developed luxury hotels and homes in the state of Perak. A trailblazer with a penchant for innovative risks and old fashioned hard work, Chan has got the solution right for developing luxury apartments and hotels.
An experienced developer with more than 20 years in the housing industry, Peter Chan has brought about tremendous changes within the Malaysian housing industry. A Singaporean-born Australian, he moved into the local commercial scene about a decade ago, and has been here since then creating waves in all his ventures.
“I came to Malaysia about ten years ago when I was head hunted by the NV Multi Group of Companies. At that time, I was based in Australia after having gained working experience in the US, UK and Singapore,” says Chan.
As the current CEO of three enterprises, Superboom Projects Sdn Bhd, Superboom Perak Sdn Bhd and The Haven Sdn Bhd, the journey has been marked by significant successes.
Chan obtained his BBA (Hons) from NSU before entering L’Institut Européen D’administration Des Affaires (INSEAD) in France where he was awarded his Advanced Management Program qualification.
“Building homes in Malaysia has not been without its own set of challenges. Nevertheless we successfully built and sold apartments in Tambun and Subang 2. These are considered the best terrace housing development in the country,” recalls Peter with pride.
Next, naturally came the building of the pièce de résistance, the Haven Luxury Resort (Best Western Premier) Ipoh, Malaysia. Recognised as the global winner in the Family Category and the Continent winner for Asia in the Luxury Hotel – Best Scenic Environment category at the annual World Luxury Hotel Awards 2015 Gala Ceremony held in Hong Kong recently, the event is undoubtedly a personal achievement for Chan.

As for future plans, “The development continues with a mega-project in Bintan. The Haven Sdn Bhd will replicate and improve over its performance in Bintan, an island south of Singapore that has a long interesting history,” envisions Chan.
